THE KILT 10 - CELEBRATING A DECADE

After ten years, the Kilt gets a refreshed voice and reimagined aesthetic. An updated clipping section delivers more headroom, smoother attack, and a richer, more dynamically useful drive range than ever before.

WHERE IT BEGAN

In 2015 we launched the ultimate dirt pedal with Stu G (legendary guitarist, writer, producer, and founding member of UK band Delirious?), and we never looked back. He wanted a pedal that could cover any ground he needed for his studio work and extensive touring gigs across the globe. From that request, the Kilt was born, and ever since, it has been one of our best-selling overdrive/distortion pedals year after year.

THE EVOLUTION OF OVERDRIVE

The original Kilt carved out its own space in a crowded field by focusing on clarity, versatility and musical responsiveness. But over the years, we kept hearing the same requests: more headroom for cleaner tones, more audible effect from the flat/cut toggle, and more control over the low-gain textures. The Kilt 10 addresses every one of these requests while maintaining the DNA that made you fall in love with the Kilt in the first place. It's what you love but better.

WHAT'S NEW FOR 2025

An Updated Look – The finish returns to polished aluminum as a tribute to the original Kilt V1, now paired with classic Expandora-style knobs. It’s wrapped up with a refreshed Kilt icon that cleverly nods to both the Scottish flag and the Roman numeral “X” to represent ten years.

Improved Gain Control: The gain knob now offers a far more usable range from 0-25%, unlocking articulate, low-gain textures that weren't previously accessible. No more dead zones — just smooth, musical breakup from whisper-quiet to full saturation.

Enhanced High-End Clarity: We've refined the top end to help the pedal cut through a mix with greater definition, which is especially noticeable in live band settings where every bit of clarity counts.

Increased Volume Headroom: More output on tap translates into a more responsive tone across your entire rig, adding dimension and feel whether you're hitting a clean amp or stacking with other drives.

Refined Toggle Switches: The gain toggles have been tweaked for more usable gain parameters while keeping the pedals original feel and settings. The Low-Cut toggle is now far more amp-friendly, working well across a wider range of amplifiers (including amp modeler pedals and software).

Diode Choice EnhancementA new clipping circuit adds more touch-sensitive feel and nuance without departing from the pedal's core identity. It has slightly more compression, distortion on tap, and a smoother attack. Think Kilt V2 but bigger. From the first chord you play, you will love how it feels.

HOW TO USE IT

The beauty of the Kilt 10  is that it functions exactly like the Kilt V2. With G1 down and G2 up, it acts like a higher gain stage boost—perfect for pushing your amp's front end or stacking with fuzz. Flip both toggles up and you get that massive wall of saturated British overdrive that made the original famous. The improved gain sweep means you can dial in everything from edge-of-breakup rhythm tones to singing lead saturation to all out gated spitting fuzz.

The enhanced headroom and clarity make this version particularly suited for complex chord work and intricate picking patterns that would get lost in lesser overdrives.

And don't forget—the Kilt comes equipped with proprietary JHS Red Remote circuitry that allows you to switch the gain toggle on-the-fly for instant changes between overdrive and distortion, or distortion and fuzz!

CONTROLS

VOLUME - Controls the output volume. Left is less, right is more.. More headroom means you no longer have to turn your volume up past noon and you have more ability to use as a boost.

GAIN - Controls the amount of drive or distortion. Left is less, right is more. Never before has the first 25% of the gain range been so usable. You will find transparent overdrive textures that were never before possible as well as the familiar and much loved gating fuzz abilities that the last 25% of the range offers.

TONE - Controls the amount of brightness. Left is darker, right is brighter. High-frequency control with enhanced clarity and improved amp compatibility.

G1 / G2 TOGGLEs - These toggles work together to give you up to 4 different resistance clipping options. Both toggles down is the lowest gain setting. G1 up gives you more overdrive. G2 up gives you more fuzz. Both toggles up gives you the heaviest gated fuzz the Kilt offers! The G2 toggle can also be engaged by a Red Remote.

LOW-CUT TOGGLE - The down position is flat EQ, while the up position is the “cut” mode with less bass. In “cut” mode lows are reduced  for an overall tone that cuts through the mix like never before.

JACKS

INPUT - Lower jack on the right side of the pedal.

OUTPUT - Jack on the left side of the pedal.

RED REMOTE - Upper jack on the right side of the pedal with a red washer.

The Kilt 10 isn't about reinventing the wheel — it's about perfecting it. We've taken a decade of player feedback, countless hours of refinement, and distilled it into what we believe is the most complete version of this classic circuit we've ever made.

Wobby? Fixable!
Color: Onyx Black, Color: Onyx Black
After a year and half of excellent performance, the platter became more and more wobbly but the readings were consistent. Finally, it was too wobbly and the readings were erratic. There was no obvious way to try to fix it and I couldn't find any help online. I wrote to Greater Goods customer service. While I was awaiting a reply I could barely see that there was a screw inside that appeared to connect to the back right behind the paper label. I pressed on the label, and it broke through to reveal...two screws! I tightened them both and my scale is back in action just like new! It's ready for years of upcoming service. If your unit starts to wobble, it's almost certainly fixable this way. Oh, and Urmila from customer service just reached out and I gave them the good news.

works great
Size: EK6002
i've had it for a couple of weeks now, and i will say, it works well. calibration isn't in the instructions, but, if you hit and hold all 4 buttons when you turn it on, after it says hello, it will enter cal mode. pressing unit advances to the next screen, which is the auto shut off time. if you turn off the power, or use all 4 buttons to reset it, it does not seem to save, so you will have to purchase calibration weights in order to change it. after setting the auto shutoff, it then lists the 3000 g, which is the max weight. it seems you can change it, but i haven't tried. the next shows random numbers, seemingly the raw value of the scale sensor, then it goes through asking for a 500g calibration weight, and after that, a 2000g calibration weight. the 1000g weight doesn't seem to be necessary. after calibration, the scale seems to do pretty well with the calibration weights. weighing in the center and in the corners seem to be repeatable, although it may be a little off at the very edges or corners. the mat that goes on top of the scale has a hangover on the left side, which helps keep it in place, but it can slide up and down. using the scale to measure liquid, it seems to refresh quick enough to easily allow you to gauge when to stop, although, it may depend on how quickly you pour. one thing to note, the precision mentioned in the description. this scale is accurate to 0.1g from 0-500g, 0.5g from 501-1000g, and 1g from 1001-3000g. this isn't over the weight range of the scale exactly, but rather over the displayed weight. meaning, if you decided to weigh pour over or something, in something heavy (or a collection of things), if you tare out the weight (zero it out to measure the difference), it will still display the first 500g up to 0.1g accuracy. that makes the 3000g limit of the scale much more useful. lastly, this is a rebranded scale...many make the same scale under a different brand. i can't remember which combination of buttons it was, but if you held 2 buttons at the same time, it would bring up a muted speaker (no sound) icon, even though this scale doesn't have sound to begin with. i'm very happy with this scale. the price was good, and realizing that the 0.1g accuracy works up to 500g after taring is great. i used it to measure the water and ice in my 64 oz yeti, to figure out how much water i was actually drinking (got very close to the limit of 3000g).

Good scale to use while making pour over coffee and other things
Size: EK6002
So there is one problem that I have found with this unit so far, but only one, it lags in accuracy slightly. I have used the Timemore black mirror for over a year now and I find this scale to be much nicer in everyway with the one exception. It doesn't instantly measure your pour, it needs a second or less after you stop pouring to give an accurate measurement. It's usually about a gram lag and I have gotten used to dealing with it however you should upgrade your sensor to give a faster reading. Now in every other way I prefer this scale to the Timemore which is almost 3 times the price of this scale. This scale is longer with a larger area to work on making it much more comfortable to do a pour over, also this scale has a solid flat surface where the controls are meaning you will not get water into the controls. I have had it happen more than a few times with the Timemore where if some water falls on the area of the timer or tare switch they stop working temporarily. While making a pour over it is a significant problem when that happens, I don't think I will ever have that problem with this unit because there is no area for the water to penetrate. I do wish the controls gave a beep when you activated and if they made the sensor respond more quickly those would be some nice improvements. However in all for the price of this little scale you can't go wrong, I have no idea how long it will hold up as I have used it for about a month. However if it continues on as it has I see it performing well for a long while, thanks for the great scale and even better price.

Excellent scale in all ways.
Size: EK6002
I’ve used this identical scale for four years, though with a different brand name on it, still identical, made in China with a friendly “Hello” on the splash screen when you turn it on. After approximately 1,000 uses in four years, it suddenly died one day, lost its mind and became obviously useless. When that happened there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to replace it with exactly the same scale because I liked the old one so much. The controls are logically laid out, the display is bright, it automatically turns itself off after a few minutes if you forget about it. I’ve tested it with standard weights and it’s precisely accurate. It’s correctly sized for its task (a coffee scale), it’s slim, light, has a removable, washable rubber mat that covers the weighing platform, and is altogether a winner in design and utility, and there’s no reason to change anything about it. When this one fails, I’ll be happy enough to buy another. It costs twenty bucks . . .

Simple, does the trick.
Size: EK6002
It's a simple, basic scale. Lightweight, it's easy to move from where I stash it to where I use it for measuring coffee. The unit of measure holds it setting when you turn it off, which is nice. I use it in grams for coffee, which is 95% of my use. I acquired a big bag of coffee (5lbs or so) which I broke down into smaller vacuum-packed bags for storage, measured out at 180g each. The scale mostly performed like a champ, although it drifted off zero twice between during bags. Simply shutting restarting the scale got it back on track. It works for me, if you're a hardcore candy maker or baker, you may want a higher quality unit.
